Fitness, Self-Love and Misconceptions

I want to talk to you about Fitness for a bit today.

There are many people out there who go to the gym almost everyday and work hard. There are also many people who hate the idea of sport and moving, who are stuck inside watching TV and eating chips.
Then there are the people in the middle, who do moderate exercise.

Of course there are more kinds of people who are in the middle between moderate and hard exercise or between couch potato and moderate exerciser.

No matter who you are, this is for you.

Everyone of those people have different reasons for doing sport or not doing sport. Maybe you have had bad experience with moving your body, maybe you got hurt doing sport or have just decided it´s much better for you to stay on your couch.

Other people maybe grew up moving their body everyday and falling in love with it. Or other people decided that enough was enough and they were going to get fit.
Then there are also people who see models on runways or on television and want to get to their size, because they hate the way they look. They might start starving and/or exercising excessively. There are also people who want to loose weight, because they were told they are fat and ugly until they believed it.

Now again, no matter who you are, I want you to read this carefully.

Starting off with please you repeating this after me ten times. Inside your head or out loud, I don´t care.

Now, everyday, no matter who you are and where you are at in life, I want you to repeat this.

Furthermore, when you´ve started to believe it, I want you to add:

i am beautiful just the way i am inspo quote.jpg

Because I´m telling you.

It´s true.

I told you we were going to talk about Fitness today. When am I going to get to it? Now.

Fitness should be about love. Self-love.

The reason you should be moving your body, is because you love it.

Because you love the feeling.

Because it is healthy and your body needs it.

Because you want to achieve a certain fitness goal, like run a half-marathon.

Because your body needs movement to function.

NOT because

  • someone told you, you were fat and ugly.
Remember: no matter what ANYONE says:
You are beautiful, just the way you are!
  • you want to fit a certain body image, size or ideal…
  • you HATE your body
That is a complete no go!
  • you think you are ugly
  • you hate it

You should move your body.

Don´t get me wrong. But I don´t want you going into it, because you hate the way you look or you hate your body.

That is the biggest mistake I know a lot of people make. Too many people. I know that, because I talk to people. And because I´ve been there.

You will only succeed and stick to it, if you love it.

That´s why I´m all about setting fitness related goals. Not body related. Because only if you fall in love with the journey and the feeling, you will get there. When you make it about the journey and the fitness, the body will change in your favor all on it´s own.

“When you start loving your body, amazing things will happen!”

You will feel your body getting stronger, your mind clearing, your energy levels getting up, your concentration getting better, …

You will feel better all over.

I´m not just saying this to you. I wouldn´t be, if I don´t think it´s true.

Let me make one more thing clear:

There will be times when it´s hard. Who am I kidding, the start and a lot of things are hard. But when you stick for it a while, you will start to love it. You will grow, not only muscle, but mental strength.

And most importantly: WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT!

That´s why what works for other people might not work for you. Try around and find what you enjoy. Because you will stick to it and it will make you happy. And that is the goal in fitness. Happiness, strength and self-love.

  1. Beautifully said! We are all beautiful and awesome, just the way we are! We focus so much on what the outside world expect from us that we forget to look at what truly makes us – and our bodies – happy. And it’s about time we changed that! Thanks for a great, inspiring post! 🙂
