Vegan Energy Balls // Sunny´s Sweet Sunday


It´s Sunday! That means I have another recipe for you on here! This time for my column Sunny´s Sweet Sunday I´m sharing with you my go-to snack, pre-workout fuel and energy-pick-me-up recipe:

The best Vegan Energy Balls!

These energy balls are perfect to eat when on the go, in office, before or even after a workout. They contain healthy fats, lots of protein and complex carbohydrates! Everything a healthy body needs. So let´s get making these, shall we?!

What you´ll need

  • 1/2 cup pitted dates
  • 1 1/2 cup nuts
  • 1 Tbsp agave
  • 2 Tbsp cacao powder
  • 1/2 cup dried apricot


Basic Recipe

Soak the dates in a bit of water for about 10 minutes, while that´s soaking, add the nuts (you can use several different kinds, or only one kind – it´s up to you) in a blender or food processor and blend until you have a flour kind of consistency. Now add the dates and blend until everything is more or less a thick dough. Take out bits and roll them into little balls with your hands or go for a more fancy recipe.

Fancy Additions

If you want more to your energy balls, you can add other dried fruits, cacao powder or/and agave, just blend everything together and form balls. The measurements above are the ones I used for my Nut Balls, feel free to get creative yourself!

That was it. These are best enjoyed after a meal as dessert, before a workout for an energy boost, while hiking for a little pick-me-up or just as a snack throughout the day!
